About Me

I was born and raised in Powell River, B.C. which shaped much of who I am as an artist today. Coastal mainland British Columbia is home to scenic coastlines, dense forests and diverse wildlife, as well as a thriving arts and cultural community.

Summers spent camping, hiking, and fishing fueled my love of nature and countless back yard sightings of black bears, deer, racoons, hawks and eagles inspired my creativity early on. I quickly began to look forward to drawing and painting every chance I got and eventually realized that I wanted art to be a focal point in my life.

My first visit to Nova Scotia in 2010 sparked a love for the east coast, and a desire to become better acquainted with the charm of the Maritimes prompted a move cross-country in 2013. Since then, I have come to know and love many areas of this beautiful province. Currently, I work out of my home studio in the Annapolis Valley, where my artwork continues to be an intensely meditative and therapeutic outlet.

Profoundly impacted and inspired by life on both east and west Canadian coastlines, I aim to reflect the resiliency of their rural landscapes and the wild and untamed spirit of the animals that inhabit them.

About My Work

I work in a variety of mediums, including pencil, ink, watercolours, acrylic, oils, as well as mixed media collage, which combines the use of found materials, and my own illustrations on paper.

There are huge benefits from exploring different mediums and techniques so I remain uncommitted to one or the other, as you can see in my photo gallery. I love experimenting with different materials and the versatility helps keep my creativity alive and that always comes through in the artwork.

In addition to the finished drawings, collages, and paintings you may have seen, I always have a sketchbook on the go, and spend a lot of time in studio doing technical studies in graphite and oils. There is always something new to learn and I gain the most during those studio days that are only meant for practice, and play.
