Great Horned Owls are one of my favourite references. Sometimes I think their stern and majestic demeanour is just to compensate for the fact that they’re basically kitties of the sky. Adept hunters, pleasant company, beautiful eyes, soft, very pettable, but have sharp claws. Hence: Owls = Sky Kitties
